Poolside digital signage \u2013 British Swimming case study<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The best way for us to highlight what poolside digital signage<\/a><\/strong> can do for you is to show you it in action. Recently, British Swimming approached Armagard in need of poolside digital signage, here\u2019s how we were able to help them\u2026<\/p>\n

About British Swimming<\/strong><\/h2>\n

British Swimming is the National Governing Body for Swimming, Diving, Synchronized Swimming, Water Polo and Open Water in Great Britain. It has an international responsibility to ensure the high performance representation of the sport.<\/p>\n

The Challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Requiring 60\u201d screen protection for their facility at the University of Bath Sports Training Village, British Swimming came to Armagard.<\/p>\n

The solution needed to be able to endure the rigours of a swimming pool environment, staving off the effects of humidity, temperature changes, and provide protection against water damage.<\/p>\n

Why Poolside Digital Signage?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Performance Scientist for British Swimming, Ben Holliss, came up with the idea of installing poolside digital signage for use as a coaching tool.<\/p>\n

The installation of a 60\u201d poolside screen enabled swimmers to view themselves on screen while training, helping them to improve their swimming technique.<\/p>\n

The Solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n

British Swimming installed an Armagard 60\u201d enclosure from our PDS range, a NEMA 4X industry rated unit that\u2019s completely watertight.<\/p>\n

The enclosure was equipped with temperature regulating systems to cope with changes in humidity and to stave off the effects of condensation.<\/p>\n

‘The British Swimming Team are able to monitor the progress of swimmers.’<\/strong><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The unit is fitted with a polycarbonate viewing window, which is 10 times stronger than glass, to protect against any accidental collisions.\u00a0Various security features are also attached to the unit to prevent theft and the enclosure also protects the screen from vandalism.<\/p>\n

The PDS LCD enclosure <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Manufactured using a rust resistant, powder coated mild steel, and sealed to industry standards, the PDS LCD enclosure<\/a><\/strong> is an indoor and outdoor ready unit.<\/p>\n

It can be used for industrial and commercial purposes and is available in a variety of sizes ranging from 24\u201d up to 75\u201d, keeping screens functioning in temperatures as low as 32o<\/sup>F and up to +122o<\/sup>F.<\/p>\n

The unit is fully watertight, a must have feature for British Swimming\u2019s project, and is completely dust proof. It\u2019s low maintenance and easy to clean with standard cleaning products.<\/p>\n

The PDS LCD enclosure can be wall, pole-stand or ceiling mounted, while screens are mounted using a universal VESA mounting bracket.<\/p>\n

One of the unique benefits of this unit is that it\u2019s completely customizable. Choose from a toughened glass or polycarbonate viewing window, add anti-glare or anti-reflective technology to maintain screen visibility in bright locations or add a touch screen feature for increased user interactivity.<\/p>\n

Benefits for British Swimming<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Armagard PDS LCD enclosure makes it possible for swimmers to review real-time footage of their training.\u00a0Swimming trainers are also able to observe techniques, without having to have their eyes on the pool.\u00a0They can also rewind and playback footage for review in greater depth.<\/p>\n

Designed to last for up to 10 years or more, the screen will be protected from a number of damage threats, preventing the need for screen repair\/replacement and reducing costs.<\/p>\n

Enclosure versus dedicated waterproof screen<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Compared to a dedicated waterproof screen, the PDS LCD enclosure can cost up to 50% less and can protect your current screen, removing the need to invest in an entirely new, more expensive solution.<\/p>\n

The results<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The unit blends seamlessly into the environment and its protection of the digital screen enables swimmers to enjoy a live, interactive view of their training as they take to the pool.<\/p>\n
